Dixie

"She was just a horse that put here trust in me"
It was the summer of 2007 in Laramie, Wyoming. I had worked for a year so I could buy a horse. I had wanted one all of my life. Since I was raised pretty much in the city, horses didn't fit into my families lifestyle. I worked with her everyday, rain or shine. It was such a great experience that I will never forget. We moved to a big ranch in Nebraska a short time after. She joined all of the other horses on the ranch and could finally live! Every time the horses would come to the windmill for a drink, I would go out and talk to her. She always came to me and would let me pet and hug on her all that I wanted.I moved back to Texas and I had to leave her there. I never had the chance to ride her. I really wish I could have.

I received word that she had been sold and has started on the path to become a great barrel horse.

I miss her so very much and I want nothing more than for to be happy, healthy and to be loved.

30th IJSBA World Finals

Well... Roberts and I went to Lake Havasu City, AZ for the 30th Annual IJSBA Word Finals. I am worked as the assistant to the president of the IJSBA and Roberts is raced. Lets go back a few weeks to get the full story....

Roberts left for World Finals on Tuesday of the week before. It took him awhile to get out there because of some slight planning and traveling mishaps. On that same Tuesday my mom called to offer me a deal. She told me that if I were to cancel my trip and stay in Texas she would pay me double what I would be making at my regular job in a week. Roberts and I were short on cash so it peaked my interest. However, this was a little too late because I had already given my word that I would be there to work, and I had bought air plane tickets, and a rental car. I decided to go ahead with my plans and I am soooo glad I did. After a week of working hard and making 10 times what I would have made in a week I came home with a pocket full of cash and heart full of pride for Roberts, and Roberts came home with a 2nd place World title in Sport Spec and 4th place World title in Sport Modified on a STOCK boat!

I am so proud! He is so awesome!

Swimming

Today Roberts and I decided to go for a swim in the pool here at our apartment complex. We tanned for a little while and then I got hot and decided to get in the pool. Of course the water was freezing but I still wanted to do some laps so I jumped in. After swimming a few laps I was really getting tired so I decided to do the back stroke to rest. After a few laps I noticed that Roberts was getting ready to get in as well. I continued my laps and all of a sudden something hit me hard in the face. The next thing I knew Roberts was in the water with me telling me I was bleeding. So I walked to the edge and got a towel and Roberts checked to see if I had all my teeth. I did I just had two bloody busted lips. Roberts was trowing our dive rings in the water and somehow he had a bad throw that hit me square in the mouth. Most people would probably be angry but he was several yards away from the pool so there was no way he was aiming for my face. After some icing and ibuprofen it feels a lot better!

I shouldn't be complaining but...

I hate my job. I just started a job at the bookstore on campus and it SUCKS!!! It is the most stressful job I have ever had and it is only part-time AND minimum wage! It is THE WORST job I have ever had! After a long week last week I decided to call my former boss to see if he had any contact here in Recreation so maybe I could get a job in my field. He gave me a friends phone number from graduate school. I was so difficult to wait to call her today. I was so excited I left the most spastic message on her phone and sat down to wait for her to call me. About an hour later my phone rang and it was her!! After a quick conversation about me it came down to her saying, " well we just finished all the hiring"... BOOOO!!!! So now I am back to square one and when I left work today I wanted to quit. Now what do I do? :( Luckily I have Roberts and Caesar to cheer me up.

Eye Issues

When Caesar was three months old he had his three month vet appointment. The same day I realized that he have a very red watery eye. I mentioned it to the vet and he subscribed an antibiotic eye drop. Finally after he received his three month shots he was allowed to go to the groomer. When went in for his first groomers appointment our little boy looked like a hairy beast.

And he came out looking like this very hansom young gentleman!

After a week the eye drops didn't help at all and after he got his haircut we noticed maybe something else was going on so we went back. This time they suggested we continue the drops and they subscribed a oral antibiotic and a steroid.  We waited until all the antibiotics were all taken and nothing had helped. At that point we were sent to a veterinary eye specialist... I didn't know these even existed! So I called the next day and they had an appoint open for him the same day. We got him ready and took him to the eye vet. They did all kinds of tests and then let us know that his eyelid was turning in. This caused his eyelashes to irritate his eye causing his third eyelid to come up to protect his eye. They suggested surgery. I of course asked it this was something that would go away on its own and they said no the surgery was the only way to solve the problem. After consulting Roberts' family we called the next day to schedule the surgery which they had available for the next day. We took him in and he came out looking like this...
.
 and this...

He was very pathetic and the saddest thing of all was that he had to wear it for 2 weeks! We also had to give him at the most 4 pills a day. After a week he was feeling a lot better but his eye was still having the same problems. The eye was healing but the third eyelid was still up. We took him back and they did more test and then informed us that he has Horner's Syndrome. This means that eventually it will resolve itself. After his time in the cone he was so excited to get it removed. The eye vet then prescribed a new eye drop for the Horner's Syndrome. To learn more about Horner's click here.
